Norklar Privacy Policy
Norklar is a local-first thinking assistant. It is built so your data stays on your device.
Publisher: Kennedy Applied Sciences, Inc. (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Norklar mobile app (Android package com.norklar.app) on Android and iOS.
Summary
Norklar does not have user accounts, does not run analytics, does not include advertising SDKs, and does not send your thoughts, photos, voice notes, or any other content you create to any server. The app makes network requests only when you explicitly ask it to download an AI model from Hugging Face; nothing you type or capture is transmitted with those requests. All your session data lives on your device and is deleted when you uninstall Norklar or use the in-app Clear All Data control.
What we collect
Nothing. Norklar has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting, and no telemetry. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data.
If you optionally fill in a name or email inside Settings → Edit Profile, that information is stored on your device only. It is not transmitted anywhere and is not associated with any account we control.
Where your data lives
Everything you create in Norklar, including thinking sessions, projects, journal entries, favorites, photos, voice notes, documents, reminders, and settings, is stored only on your device.
- Android: app backups to Google are disabled by the app manifest.
- iOS: app data is excluded from iCloud automatic backup by default.
- App lock: if you set a PIN, it is stored on-device as a salted PBKDF2 hash. Biometric unlock uses your device’s biometric hardware; biometric data never reaches Norklar.
Network access
Norklar makes network requests in only two situations, both under your control:
- Downloading an on-device AI model from Hugging Face (
huggingface.co) when you tap Download on the Model Download screen. The request fetches the model file over HTTPS and does not include any of your content. - Optional Hugging Face access token. If you provide a token to download a gated model, it is stored in your device’s secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain) and sent only to Hugging Face to authorize the download.
After a model is downloaded, AI features run entirely on your device. Your thoughts, prompts, and framework responses are never sent to a server. App fonts are bundled with the app and are not fetched at runtime.
Hugging Face is an independent service with its own privacy policy.
Permissions we request and why
You are asked to grant these permissions only when they are needed for a feature you use:

| Internet / network state | The model download described above. No other feature uses the network. |
You can revoke any permission from your device settings at any time; the related feature will be unavailable until you grant it again.
Sharing and export
Sharing (text summaries, PDF export, JSON backups) happens only when you start it, through the system share sheet, to a destination you pick. What you share is up to you. Norklar has no server that stores or forwards exports.
Data deletion and your rights
Because we do not hold any of your data, there is no server-side account to delete. You can remove everything Norklar stored on your device at any time:
- Settings → Clear All Data deletes every session, project, reminder, attachment, favorite, downloaded model, and profile record on the device.
- Uninstalling the app removes all remaining Norklar data from the device’s app storage.
Children
Norklar does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this URL with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be surfaced inside the app on next launch.
